Bluebells at Pinsley Wood

This 45 hectare ancient bluebell wood is out in full bloom, and will only look better over the bank holiday and beyond following the latest downpour. Follow the 2.2 mile loop inside the woods, perfect for little legs, and take in the sight of thousands upon thosands of bluebells and the far reaching countryside views.

Lots of dens will give you an idea of how often these woods are frequented by children, the rope swings and wheel tracks confirm that nature’s playground is still the best. We enjoyed scrambling over fallen trees and running down steep hills, it made for some gloriously muddy fun. There is also a little stream to play in, and by little I mean a trickle — ideal for little ones to have a splash in. Some engineers in the making have already built a dam and little bridges, so if you have an industrious one get them down here! Turn left when entering the woods to find it.

Stream at Pinsley Woods

You may remember us posting about Pinsley Woods recently as the local pub, the Hand and Shears, hosted a golden egg Easter hunt here — what fun it was! Put this gem of a pub on your ‘to-vist’ list, their outdoor seating area overlooks the picturesque St Peter and St Paul’s Church and the food is delicious, especially after a stomp around the woods to work up an appetite.
